HostGator’s Own Coupon Page

HostGator has a page on its own website that lists coupons. You can view it at HostGator.com/coupons. I expect they did this because it was an easy way to have their own website rank at the top of Google for keywords like “HostGator Coupons.”

Otherwise, Google searches might lead to websites like this one where the coupons listed are tied to one of HostGator’s affiliates. By preventing people from using an affiliate’s coupon, HostGator avoids having to pay a commission to an affiliate. All that makes sense. It’s also possible that HostGator created ads that directed people to HostGator.com/coupons.

Here’s the funny part. The subheading of the page is “100% Valid HostGator Coupons.” Next to each coupon there’s big green text that says “100% Works”. I think they do this to look like CouponCabin or RetailMeNot.

Coupon

Of the three hosting coupons listed two don’t work. “spring20” and “penny” are both invalid. “newcustomer1cent” still works.

The domain coupons are also invalid.
